Williams' Taxonomy of Creative Thought

Williams’ taxonomy is a model for teaching creative thinking skills. This taxonomy splits creative thinking into eight categories. Williams' taxonomy can be useful when creating performance assessments and their scoring guides.

Fluency	spawn many ideas, related ideas, or possible choices
Flexibility	change ordinary things into something different, generating various alternative
Originality	unusual twists, irony, clever responses, uniqueness
Elaboration	expand, enlarge, enrich, or embellish ideas
Risk Taking	experiment with new ideas, try a new challenge
Complexity	create structure out of something unstructured, apply a logical order to a situation
Curiosity	encourage guessing, hunches, consider outcomes, options
Imagination	visualization, build mental images, think through concepts
